THERE MAY BE A BIRD: ANIMATED SELF PORTRAITS

PART TWO

30 plus animated portraits were created as part of a two pronged project which asked 50 young people to write secret messages to the world on post-it-notes and place them inside a sealed box. One of those post-it-notes simply said 'There May Be a Bird" and included a crude drawing of a small bird.

The animated self portraits are presented as a projection and are narrated in a voice over by an artificial intelligence which was given the sole prompt 'There May Be A Bird'.

The narration, as with the portraits ranges from factual to abstract and in a delightful twisting of interconnectivity - form a serendipitous and layered relationship.

Emergence of organic patterns and stories from unrelated sources and repetition is completely coincidental and creates a blurring of what is real and what is not.
